I was talking with a mate of mine today who is a well-known marketing guy. He’d read the entry about the car window signage and I was asking his if he ever recommends things like that to his clients.
I was also interested to know if he thought the price was too high or too low.
His answer was fascinating:
1. He recommends everything to his clients - “Try everything!” he tells them.
He says some things work for some business, others don’t. He has 1 client who pulled in a huge client from a $30 ad in one of those free community newspapers. The same client gets no joy from a $4,000 ad in the big city papers.
“To be successful all you have to do is test and measure. If it works, keep doing it. if it doesn’t work, stop doing it. 95% of businesses have no idea what brings in the business,” was his advice.
All you need is the right customer to see you’re sign and it can explode your business.
2. Re our price being too high or too low – he told me it was a stupid question! (Bit rough I know!).
“Nothing to do with price. If the car window signage pulls me in $100,00 worth of profit a year then I’d happily pay $50,000 for the back windscreen to be covered.
If the window signage pulls in $1.50 in business then I wouldn’t want to pay $2 for it.”
“It has nothing to do with the price, it’s all about the value.”
A couple of days ago I mentioned the one-way car window signage we do for the back windows (and side) of cars, along with general windows (we do quite a bit for the sliding glass doors on many local factories – keeps the glare out).
As always, a picture is worth a thousand words, so I grabbed the camera and took a pic of the signage on my car so you can get a better idea of how it looks.
As you can see, you can have whatever image or graphic you want and use your car to its absolute best effect. The water skiing pics are of my kids.
Pricing
One way vision for vehicles is priced at just $125.00 m2, so it’s very affordable.
Therefore for my Prado above, the side glass each side would retail at $60.00 inc gst (800 mm x 600mm) + fitting if required.
The rear glass $105.00 inc gst (1400mm x 600mm) + fitting.
Fitting costs around $100.00 per vehicle, however most handy type people would be able to lay the vision down successfully, the product is very forgiving in that if you don’t get it quite right you can lift it up and start again.
Hope this helps.

One of the things we do quite a bit of is put photos on canvas.
My son Tom just completed the very tough Kokoda Challenge – an incredibly tough 96 km walk in the Gold Coast Hinterland that has to be completed in under 39 hours.
That’s a decent trek for anyone, let alone a 15 yo young man.
Tom trained hard and put in a terrific effort to finish strong with a few mates and their teacher from Elanora High School. Great stuff from all of the team! They should be very proud of their wonderful effort.
l to r – Tom, Brandon, Jason, Mr Hogan & Harry finishing the trek
We’ve had a number of Kokoda Challenge participants put their finishing photos on canvas (and I really have to do it for Tom!).
Any photo we have we can put onto a beautiful canvas (at a decent size) so you have a great family or sporting photo forever on the wall. An inexpensive and very elegant way to treasure those important moments.

Youngest Person To Ever Cycle Across Australia
Jack is a fine young man of just 15 who is cycling across Australia from Perth to Surfers Paradise (that’s 4,500 kms in 30 days!) to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Australia.
His mum Mel was nice enough to send through some kind words:
“Thanks for the fantastic signage and more. Your price was unbeatable, service sensational and turn around time was terrific. Thanks so much.”

Sure, we do a ton of laminating here on the Gold Coast, but another big part of the business is digital printing.
Now I love my printing machines as much as the next guy (it’s a printer mentality – you grow to appreciate all the buttons and technical bits!). But the love takes a bit of a battering when we buy the latest and greatest in digital printing.
Wow! They do cost a bit. A big bit.
And although the new printer is amazing and brilliant at what it does, it still hurts that it costs more than my new Prado. You can’t even go 4 wheel driving with the printer!
Gold Coast Digital Printing
The upshot of all that is we now do the most amazing digital printing here on the Gold Coast. The capacity and functionality of the new machine (we call her ‘Penny’) means we provide top class digital printing at a super competitve rate.
